Refund policy
Paranoise Return & Refund Policy
At Paranoise, we take great care in grading, packing, and shipping every record. Due to the nature of vinyl records and small-batch independent distribution, all sales are subject to the following terms.
All Sales Final
All records are final sale unless otherwise stated. We do not accept returns or refunds for buyer's remorse, incorrect sizing/format assumptions, or changes of mind.
Shipping & Damage in Transit
Once an order has been handed over to the shipping carrier, Paranoise is not responsible for damage, loss, or delays caused during transit.
- Vinyl records are fragile by nature, and while we pack carefully, damage can occasionally occur in shipping.
- Paranoise does not accept liability for shipping damage. If shipping insurance was purchased at checkout, the carrier is responsible and you should open a claim with them.
Shipping Insurance
Customers may choose to add shipping insurance at checkout.
- If insurance is added and an order arrives damaged, the carrier is responsible for the claim.
- The customer must contact us, and we will assist with initiating a claim with the carrier.
- Claims require clear photos of: the damaged item, the shipping box, and the internal packaging materials.
Without insurance, we are unable to offer refunds or replacements for items damaged in transit.
Incorrect or Mismatched Orders
If you receive an incorrect item or your order does not match what was purchased:
- You must contact us within 7 days of delivery.
- Include your order number, a clear photo of the item received, and a brief description of the issue.
Once verified, we will arrange a replacement or refund at our discretion. Requests made after 7 days cannot be accommodated.
Condition & Grading
All records are graded conservatively using the industry-standard Goldmine Grading Scale, which is also used by Discogs. Each record at Paranoise is graded for both the vinyl (media) and the sleeve (cover), and grades are listed in every product description.
Vinyl Grading Scale:
- Mint (M) — Perfect. Sealed or never played. Rarely used for used stock.
- Near Mint (NM or M-) — Looks and plays like new. Minimal handling wear, no surface noise.
- Very Good Plus (VG+) — Shows some signs of having been played but well cared for. Very minor surface marks that do not affect playback. Light sleeve wear acceptable.
- Very Good (VG) — Noticeable surface marks and light groove wear. Some audible surface noise during quiet passages, but the record still plays through cleanly.
- Good (G), Good Plus (G+) — Plays through without skipping but with significant surface noise and visible wear. Often a placeholder copy for rare titles.
- Fair (F) / Poor (P) — Heavy wear, possible skipping, scratches, or damage. Sold for collecting or display only.
What this means for your purchase:
- Minor cosmetic imperfections, light surface noise, or sleeve wear consistent with the assigned grade are not considered defects.
- Used records may show signs of age or previous ownership appropriate to their grade.
- We grade conservatively — if anything, we tend to under-grade rather than over-grade.
We encourage customers to read listings carefully and reach out with any questions before purchasing. If a record arrives significantly off from its listed grade, contact us within 7 days with photos and we will make it right.
Return Shipping
If a return is approved:
- The item must be returned in its original condition and packaging.
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the error was ours.
- Items returned without prior approval will not be accepted.
